I couldn't find any reviews for the D-Link version of Powerline HD but saw PC Mag and CNET reviews of the Netgear version. They were getting 45-53 Mbps in their test labs (theoretical max is 200Mbps). The D-Link kit was $60 cheaper so I decided to give it a try since I've had decent luck with other D-Link gear.I have a 30 year old home so it's far from ideal test lab conditions. In my best case scenario where I plug the two adapters in consecutive outlets (8 feet apart), I get 48Mbps (avg). If I connect the adapters to the same circuit (i.e. outlets sharing the same circuit breaker), I get 20Mbps (avg). If I connect across two different circuits, I get 11Mbps (avg). Since HD streaming needs a solid 20Mbps, this won't meet my primary objective. However, it could extend my wireless broadband connection (5Mbps) if I choose to keep it. I may try out the Netgear version but I... I can now get network to all parts of my 3 story house, even across circuits, with no problem. I only get about 15-20Mbps, though, even when on the same circuit. But at least they are consistent and are really fast compared to the 14Mbps units (which really only got about 1-5Mbps, tops).I am a Mac-only house, and these units only come with Windows software. That, and the speed issues give this a 4 star rating instead of 5. Oh, and you can't yet buy these units separately. I only needed 3 but had to buy 2 sets of 2. Grr. -- UPDATE: It is now May 9, about 2 months after I bought 4 of these. As of last night, none of them work any more. None. If it were only one, I would chalk it up to a single bad unit, but it looks like this problem is very common. I would reduce my rating to 1 star if I could at this point. STAY AWAY FROM THESE UNITS AT ALL COSTS!! 12 of 13 people found the following review helpful By This review is from: D-Link DHP-301 Powerline HD Ethernet Kit (Personal Computers) Not only is this a disappointing product, but the worst customer service experience I have ever had. After a little configuration trouble, the DHP-301 worked great...for about 3 weeks. Then one of the units just stopped working entirely. Based on other comments I have read on various sites, this seems to be a common problem with this product. So since I was past the 30 days, I had to send it back to D-Link. When I got the second set, it worked fine again...but only for 2 weeks. So I called D-Link and told them I had given up on the DHP-301 and wanted an entirely different product. They took down the model number of the new product I wanted and said that as soon as they received the defective units they would send me the different product I wanted. But...after they received the defective units they: 1) send me yet a 3rd set of the DHP-301s after I told them I did not want another set 2) tell me the only way to get it sent back is to talk to tech support and...
